12.08.2022 - Construction Update

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

This update changes up our work zones slightly:

Depot Street between Loretta Street and Cutler Street, including the intersection of Cutler St and Depot St: Work will begin in this zone starting this coming Tuesday, December 13th. The Federal Courthouse and the Post Office will remain accessible from the Irish Street side of the block while construction begins at Cutler St and Depot St. The intersection should only be closed for a week and reopen well before the holidays, but we will update everyone when it has officially reopened. This closure is for the installation of the new storm drain and electrical systems.

Depot Street between Cutler Street and Irish Street: Currently open to local traffic until our crews are able to begin concrete work in this block. Please proceed with caution around the fenced off sewer drains.

Depot Street between Irish Street and Main Street: Remains closed as crews continue with the installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalks. Check out these pictures and drone footage of the progress with the sidewalks.

Depot Street between Main Street and College Street: Will remain accessible to local traffic but closed to through traffic. The intersection of College Street and Depot Street is open. Academy Street is also open and accessible. Please use caution while accessing this area.

This is a great video of the current status of the sidewalks on Depot Street between Main Street and Irish Street. Our crews are diligently working on the Tabletop Feature that will be in the middle of the block. This block will become more and more accessible for pedestrians as concrete crews pour as much as weather permits. Enjoy!
